Reminisce in Review!

I have loved working lots with Reminisce this month. Unfortunately here it is, month end, and I have so many photos and Reminisce products set aside yet to play with. But it is the 30th and therefore the final day to throw my hat into the ring for the design team search. Thanks Reminisce, for making such great products. I hope you enjoy this Reminisce Review put together just for you, and anyone else who happens by. Welcome!

I am going to start out with what may be my favorite layout of the month, although it is so hard to choose. “Cute Bundle” uses the Frosty line. I had fun with the cardstock stickers, and wrote my journaling around the design motifs highlighted in the Magistical Memories chipboard circle border. It reads: “When the SNOW falls and it’s cold enough to tickle a SNOWMAN, we bundle Abby up like a POLAR BEAR. She waddles outside like a PENGUIN, happily falling down in the SNOW.

My great discovery with this layout focuses on the snowflake chipboard medallion. I painted it white, covered it with Crystal Stickles and allowed to dry. Then I held my breath, and used a Reminisce snowflake rub-on ON TOP of the rough surface of the Stickles. The end result is a stunning, iridescent rub-on, and I have to say this technique could not have worked with anything other than a top quality rub-on. Kudos Reminisce for making the execution of this idea possible!

Okay, now for my other Reminisce projects. I guess I better be brief or this could become a very long blog! (LOL) Frosty is a beautiful line for winter photos. Paired with an acrylic mini album it is stunning. Here are several images of my first acrylic album, dedicated to our son and his love for winter.

Here is an idea for a quick home décor project for the holidays. The whole project took less than 30 minutes to make. I used 3 4x4” clear coasters, and trimmed three Frosty pattern papers to 3.5” x3.5” pieces. I adhered to the coaster, placed a large shimmer letter in the center of each to spell “JOY”, added gem stickers and Ranger Stickles around the edge. Using a Crop-o-dile I punched holes in the coaster and connected the coasters with ribbon. A chipboard snowflake medallion was decorated and hung from the bottom. This would make a great gift idea for the holidays. You can add coasters to spell different words, such as Noel.

Additional details can be viewed here.

When I began working with Frosty I realized right away how great the blue and green colors are for our pool pictures from this summer, especially of our son with his green goggles. The “Cool” cardstock sticker led right into my title of “Cool Water”.

Using my scraps, I managed another layout created for a blog challenge, called “Forever Young” – featuring my husband being a boy again and playing in the snow.

I also created a Christmas card to display at the local scrapbook store, where I recently began employment as supervisor. I am taking charge of all displays, ensuring we have projects that showcase the newest products that arrive. This card was so fast and simple to make with Reminisce paper, Lily White Bazzill Bling, snowflake diecuts and bling brads.

Another card, “Winter Glory” made earlier in the year features Reminisce and recently appeared in Paper Crafts magazine.

And one more card - a hybrid! I also love opportunities to combine traditional with digital and try to encourage artists of both mediums to give the other a try. I have noticed the "digital" link on the Reminisce site and cannot wait to find out what that is all about. Don't forget - I create with both traditional and digital mediums and blend them as a hybrid artist as well! Cannot help but wonder what the future holds for Reminisce...

Onto primary colors! Reminisce Choo Choo line is perfect to scrap a layout of our son’s birthday from five years ago! How perfect is this paper to highlight the train birthday cake he and I made together. What fun we had! The colors worked great with the bright colored cargo on the cake, and I even stepped outside the box (for me) by writing my journaling directly on the photo – scary, but I did it!

There are so many older photos of trips to train museums, and of course Thomas and the wooden train tracks – thankfully I have more Choo Choo paper to get these photos scrapped!

It’s easy to find papers to scrapbook our little girl, so when I came across the Genuine Boy line by Reminisce I was ecstatic! I have since sent a number of customers, with boys, out of the store with this line. They are so happy to find grunge, sports, hunting and other papers designed with boys in mind- thank you Reminisce for thinking of us parents with boys and making such a great impact on the industry.

Speaking of “Impact”, this layout features our nature-loving son. At age 10 he is already concerned for the environment and especially about global warming. This layout is dedicated to his passion. I used Genuine Boy rub-ons in the photos to create movement and direction with the arrow designs. I also painted right on the photo to give a white distressed background for the “on the go” rub-on. This is a great way to use “white space” in photos – rub-ons can add a lot of interest.

Next is “Genuine Boy”, easily my favorite boy layout this month. Using Magistical Memories star frame and punching more stores from Reminisce papers, this layout has lots of dimensions and layers. I even used the “Genuine Boy” design from the paper bar code strip as a part of my collage on the upper portion of the frame.

Journaling was completed by cutting out words from patterned paper, inking the edges and adhering within the circle. I would like to encourage everyone to take a craft knife to your word paper and do some creative journaling with it! My fun touch on this page is taking a sliver of the kraft cardstock and using it as a tie through a hand-made star button. It really looks like hemp cord, and is perfect for this rugged style layout.

I am going to wrap up my Reminisce Review with a layout I literally completed in less than 30 minutes today to meet a contest deadline at Magistical Memories. (LOL) It is simple, and the Reminisce “Shades of Autumn” line offered the perfect colors.

It has been a busy month with the 10th anniversary sale going on at the store. I burned the midnight oil many nights to offer a variety of Reminisce projects for review, and thankfully have Monday and Tuesdays at home to devote to scrapping. I hope you have enjoyed my new projects shown here. Older projects using Reminisce, including some I have taught as classes may be viewed in my on-line gallery, found here. While you are there I hope you will take a look at the many other projects located in my portfolio. I primarily am a layout scrapper, but when moved to make a mini album I am always so pleased with how they turn out. I also love to make altered projects and cards when the inspiration hits me.

It is my dream to be a design team member for a manufacturer whose products I love. I have had success in being published the past several years, and a completed listing of my pubs may be found here.

In addition to loving Reminisce product, it is easily in the top three of manufacturer product leaving the Scrapbook Superstore in Madison, Wisconsin, I really feel the team would be a great fit – allowing me to showcase Reminisce product for both manufacturer and the store. Thanks for considering me, and I hope to hear Reminisce “knocking on my door” to be a part of their team. "Girls" welcome to contact me, but of course my son would say that anyone over 20 is a woman. (LOL)
